Simple Games for Groups
I am a young leader in a group of Girl Guides, and one of the things that I often take care of while administration is occurring at the start of a meeting are games that keep the girls busy so that the other leaders can deal with parents. Of course, I do far more than that, and a number of the games and activities often mark off things in their programs. A few of my favourites are featured below, so feel free to try them out with your friends/younger children.
Please note that my girls are between the ages of 10-13, so while you can go older, some of these might be a bit difficult for girls younger than 10.
Acid River
Oh no! Our team of adventurers have accidentally unleashed a river of acid that eats through anything, and it blocks their path home! All they have are a small number of floating stepping stones which are able to not be destroyed by the acid - so long as they keep in contact with them. Can they manage to get every member of their team across the acid river without losing any limbs or life?
The Coin and the Candle
This simple yet fun experiment can be a challenge for younger (and, in some cases, older) minds, but it’s always fun to give it a go and see what happens - and why.
